Opportunity

“When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers” Galatians 6:10

Biblical commentary on this scripture suggests that Paul is referring to “special attention” as supporting (financially and otherwise) our church pastors and leaders in order for them to continue doing their work for the Kingdom of God. It can also be interpreted as an instruction to support our church community with the help that they may need to remain strong and faithful servants of God.

When possible, we as Christians should take the opportunity to help everyone in need of our support. It is the right thing to do, our duty to our faith, and is pleasing to God. But why “special attention to those who are in the family of believers”? One explanation is that it is simply human nature. We naturally gravitate toward people most like ourselves. Fellow Christians have a stronger claim on my feelings and resources. We are particularly drawn and bound to do good to and for one another based on our connection in faith.

We, at A Life Well Lived, want to encourage you to help EVERYONE as opportunity presents itself and as you feel led to do so by the Holy Spirit. Helping, caring, serving, and sharing is at the heart of being a Christian and can open doors to lead the lost to eternal salvation. Having said that, we also encourage you to take the opportunity to establish relationships with Christians and reputable Christian business people daily. Help and support those with whom you are equally yoked in faith. Offer your knowledge, guidance, labor or prayers. Seek out opportunities to purchase the products and services of fellow Christians. Network with your Christian brothers and sisters to establish even more meaningful relationships and fellowship opportunities within the body of Christ.

If you would like to learn more about how you can connect and network with other Christian business leaders in your community, please email us at info@a-life-well-lived.com. #StrenthInNumbers. Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion.
